Carlos Cazalis of Mexico uses photography to document the effects of the poverty and military dictatorships he experienced as a child living in the Americas. He believes engaging in the livelihood of his subjects helps reach an editorialist view that is personal. Cazalis has captured visceral human feelings with photos documenting a range of international news events including the cholera outbreak in Haiti.

Gerardo Sabado of the Philippines is a surgeon by trade, but his photography may be
saving lives as well. He explores the far corners of the Philippines and Asia with
camera in hand, often documenting the state of diseases and healthcare in
these areas. Sabado's recent work highlights multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB), a strain of TB where first-line drugs used to treat patients are ineffective.

TITLE: Blanco.
CAPTION: Stefano De Luigi's multimedia emphasizes the importance of education, support and prevention (when possible) for blind people in developing countries. De Luigi began the project in India, in 2003. He spent the next four years shooting at hospitals and schools for the blind in sixteen different countries.
Stefano De Luigi is a member of VII and a World Press Photo three time winner. He won POYi Best Photography Book Award with "Blanco," and from it produced this multimedia project by the same name. "Blanco," emphasizes the importance of education, support and prevention (when possible) for blind people in developing countries.
